ONTARIO ENERGY BOARD RELEASES "PART TWO" CONSULTATION SUMMARY
June 2015 - The Ontario Energy Board has completed it's two-part consultation process in , but there is no sign yet of its report and recommendations to the Government of Ontario (via the Minister of Energy) on how the Province should position itself with respect to the high risk pipeline conversion project, including how they should approach the NEB review of TransCanada's application.
In Part Two of the consultation process the OEB hosted a series of "community discussions" in seven communities along the route of the proposed Energy East Pipeline, including sessions in Kapuskasing, Timmins and North Bay in January 2015. According the the OEB process description "the input during this second part will assist and inform the OEB in the completion of its report to the Ministry of Energy regarding the matters outlined in the Minister of Energy's November 2013 letter. The Government of Ontario intends to participate as an intervenor in the National Energy Board's (NEB) review of the Energy East Pipeline project and the Minister will use the OEB's report to help formulate the Government's position." The final deadline for written comments was April 24th.
On June 29th, the OEB posted summary reports of Part Two consultations on the OEBResources page. According to the OEB, the reports "summarize the views that Ontarians shared with the OEB on the potential impacts of TransCanada's proposed Energy East Pipeline and what the OEB should focus on in its report to Ontario's Minister of Energy".

OEB EXTENDS DEADLINE
The Ontario Energy Board announced last week at the Provincial Stakeholders Group meeting that it was extending the (previously February 6) deadline for written submissions, in order to allow their technical advisors to complete their review of the TransCanada application to the NEB, and provide time for review of the technical reports to the OEB by those wishing to make written submissions. The OEB Technical Advisors are reviewing the additional information that was filed by TransCanada on January 30, 2015. The OEB will post all the Technical Advisors' Reports on the Board's website "s soon as possible" but not sooner than the end of February 2015. The deadline for Part Two written submissions will be at least two weeks after the release of the Reports. The OEB will provide further notice when the reports are posted. |
